Has anyone used Mac Bros for beach setup services? Their prices seem quite reasonable. |

Has anyone used Mac Bros for beach setup services? Their prices seem quite reasonable. They setup a canopy, beach chairs, etc. for you to use each day. They charge $480 for 6d setup of a 10x10 canopy. I guess that’s why folks buy them new for $220 on Amazon and leave them setup all week. $80 a day for canopy setup seems crazy to me. |

Last year in KH it was taken down and tossed.Had a neighbor looking for her beach chairs that were set up too early and workers put by garbage at bathhouse.I guess the service is worth it to some, set up and removal daily |

Has anyone used Mac Bros for beach setup services? Their prices seem quite reasonable. I believe that was in Southern Shores. Not sure about other areas. |

"Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, and Nags Head have policies in place that force unattended equipment left on the beach after dusk to be considered trash. These items are then picked up by town employees and taken to the dump. Kill Devil Hills has taken a slightly different approach by tagging equipment left on the beach. These “tags” include brochures that inform citizens why they should not leave unattended equipment on the beach." www.oceanatlanticrentals.com/blog/avoid-leaving-equipment-beach-overnight/#:~:text=Corolla%2C%20Duck%2C%20Southern%20Shores%2C,dusk%20to%20be%20considered%20trash. |

These beach set-up companies and the people that use them really grind my gears. It's usually a very large group that has a massive canopy, 15 chairs, a refreshment table, beach games and a sound system. They set these up 10 feet to the right or left of the beach access and "claim" their beach for the week. Last time I was down there was one compound set up in the same spot every day, 50% of the time it sat empty, but when they were there, there were 25 people in it. Very obnoxious, loud and quite a turn off for anyone lucky enough to share the beach access. You literally need to set your gear up at 6 am if you want to beat them out. Edit: I was only referring to the large party tents, not people that use these services for health and mobility reasons. |

FWIW, I don't think I've seen or heard of a beach set-up operation down in Hatteras Island. For one thing, I suspect the NPS would likely insist on requiring a permit to conduct business for hire on a NPS beach. |

We used Ocean Atlantic for beach set up one year in Kitty Hawk - Just 4 old women with mobility issues (one with braces, one with replaced hips, etc). The set up service made our stay so much better as it was very hard to get over the dunes with chairs, umbrellas, etc. That is the only company we have used so far. |

Depending on where you are staying, Duck Surf Rescue, in addition to lifeguard services rent and set up beach chairs and umbrellas for you during your stay. |

Another unfortunate result of OBX changing from a family beach to a place for large party groups with more money than sense. |

I get using these companies if you are like the previous poster and are physically unable to carry everything. Most people that do it are just obnoxious. First off they set up RIGHT by the entrance and then proceed to give everyone dirty looks all day for walking too close!!! I feel like they think they own the beach from their setup forward. I’m here all summer with my kids and some weeks it is ridiculous! Looks more like a campground there are so many of them. I try to go as far away as I can!! But when I have older parents with me with mobility issues it’s frustrating to have them take all the spots right by the entrance! Thankfully we have a more streamlined approach. I want shade we use an umbrella attached to my chair. Plenty of shade without needing at 12x12 room with blenders and speakers. Roll my eyes. |

We used Mac Bros last summer and have booked them again for this summer. They had the newest, best beach chairs and umbrellas. And they were completely reliable. Heard they grew up in Whalehead and decided to start this business a few years ago. We get the 2 umbrellas and 6 chair set-up for $395 for the week. Renting the wood chairs and umbrellas alone is $230. Adding another $165 for someone to haul it all up over the tall dunes twice a day is well worth it to me. Highly recommend their service! |

I can see why people use beach set up services especially if the house is a fair distance from the beach. I see and talk to more people coming from places where they fly in or don't own beach stuff. Set up isn't much more expensive. I only do 1 week in the peak season anymore, I get up early take my fishing stuff and a canopy and a couple chairs. Walk away from the beach access and set up for the day. |

Most towns do Not allow over night. See this link: I think the set up services remove everything at the end of the day. They set it back up the next morning. |

No longer physically able to cart chairs and umbrellas from our Corolla rental home to the beach so we tried Mac Bros for our beach setup last week - 3 umbrellas and 6 chairs for our group. Their service was great. Everything was set up for us by 9am and they came after 5pm to take it down. The equipment was top quality, they set up far away enough from the beach access so that others were not inconvenienced and the prices were more reasonable than the other companies I checked into. Will be using them every year from now on. |

Used Mac Bros in June. Highly Recommend. They are great local guys and provide great customer service. They were very accommodating and even met them for a beer at the beer garden. |

I feel like they think they own the beach from their setup forward. 10X10 canopy doesn't take up that much space then setting up a few chairs and some umbrellas.. People have been setting up canopies on the beach in the OBX for as long as I can remember. The set up service just makes it more convenient. If you want the spot by the beach entrance then get there early and set up you chairs and umbrellas in the spot you want. I am always amazed how people walk blocks to the beach but they drop their stuff and set up right near the beach entrance. If people would just walk another 25-50 yards they would have a huge area to themselves. |
