Can chess help a person think more rationally and be less indecisive in every day life? Or does chess have absolutely no influence on our 'real' lives?

Yes it can. I heard a lot from people and read a lot in chess books that chess can help and improve thinking , logic and many other areas in human life.

In my own personal experience as bullet player - i have to think fast and make a decision fast - agressive or defensive or waiting move or development. Based on results and experience - in real life now i could react more property against a threat, pshychological attack from co-workers , people who you not like etc. Your intuition and reflexes can be sharpen. Chess can also damage your ego.. it can shake you and you will be unstable so be carefull.

hey, interesting questions. I think that chess can definitly help you to get focused on the things you perform and improving your skill as a problem solver, after analizing several scenarios and making good decisions in all spheres of your life.

Warm regards!

Yes - I believe so.

The game of chess is pretty much an exercise of logic (and pattern recognition, but that stems from extensive use of logic), so in order to play a proper game of chess, you must be using your logic at all times during your calculations.

Again, this is a huge, deep topic, no matter which portion you want to discuss. First you shouldrealize that chess logic and chess calculation are very different from mathematical logic and mathematical calculation, and that topic of their difference alone is huge and deep.

To me it's like the question "does playing basketball regularly increase strength?"

Of course it does, but only in specific ways. If it's strength you're after, or a specific kind of strength, there are better more focused activities... like lifting weights for example.

If you want to improve your use of logic, there are actually textbooks on logic itself.
