Just got a dual-headshot on a couple of Jackal Gang members. One VATS burst, two decapitations. Nice. I'm working on a "La Femme Makita" build, a female assassin that only uses power tools, and I have to say I'm very impressed with this weapon so far. When I get all the associated perks for the build (Professional, Better Criticals, Sniper, Just Lucky I'm Alive, etc.) I expect this thing to be a real powerhouse. Anyone else?

Yup, I cleared McCarran easily with that, and I was playing on Very Hard

On paper it is puny, but in practice it is a headshot factory.

When I first got the gun, I thought it was a joke, or a homage to the railway rifle. when I used after the end of the DLC, some stupid Legion came up to me thinking it was an assassination of me, instead of a massacre of them. so I used the nail gun and I was surprised to find 2 of the 4 scum pinned to the wall. this gun is very good at stopping deathclaws too.

the only downside is that it requires a skill of 75...to use a nail gun WTH!
Edit: but yeah full auto, 90 round magazine and completely silent with the most easily created ammo in the game

Skill of 75 to use as a weapon, not to nail boards together.
OT: what other tools are you going to use? Plasma caster? What else?

Honestly I just said "other power tools" to clarify the lame "La Femme Makita" joke. I guess I could use a Chainsaw, but it wouldn't be especially stealthy.
Fake Edit and further Clarification: "La Femme Nikita" being a french film about a female assassin and Makita being a powertool manufacturer.

Yup, arc welder. Chain saw too, what about a ripper? Were those designed as weapons or meat cutting tools? And did you know that if you toggle tgm, throw demo charges on the ground, pick them back up, they enter your inventory as frag mines?

They do that without TGM too.

Arc Welder
Nail Gun
Industrial Hand
Compliance Regulator
Dynamite
Long-Fuse Dynamite
C-4
Demolition Charge
Chainsaw
Ripper
Sledgehammer
Are all what I consider industrial weapons. I used the weapon list btw.

Compliance Regulator because it is used to make people comply. It paralyzes and does such things, so I guess it could be used for construction.
Dynamite(s) because they were used to blow up rocks in the Mojave.
Sledgehammerbecause, well, it's a sledgehammer.

And industrial character seems very cool.......

Cattle Prod and Shovel. Technically not power tools, but tools.

I considered those, but I thought listing the Compliance Regulator was enough of a stretch. :3

It's a shame there's no Auto Axe in Vegas. That could be a fun powertool to use, as well.

I guess that means the normal Fire Axe counts as an industrial weapon? I want to make a list for....extended purposes. I really enjoy the nail gun. I haven't pinned anything to a wall though. It should do more damage though..

Would be nice if they brought back those awesome industrial worker's outfits from The Pitt as well.

Well we do have construction hats, and some of the jumpsuits like the lobotomite jumpsuit could look like a manual workers boiler suite.

So, you're saying that the nails pass through people? I can see that they would if they had sufficient velocity, as nails have awesome sectional density (length to weight and diameter).
I'm wondering though, how come stuff like .308 and .50 AP doesn't go through people if nails do? Even basic .50 will go through a few people with ease, and .308 AP should do similar.
Did you perhaps fire two shots instead of one at two people lined up?

One burst. Could be there were strays, but it was point blank.
One other thing I love about the nail gun is that the projectiles have - 5 DT.

That is possible, but the nailgun seems to just punch through. It does have the highest rate of fire for a 1 handed gun, however, and combined with the minor armor peircing effect, high Critical multiplier and cheap cost and ease of acquireing the ammmo, make the nailgun a horrifically powerful little sidearm.

I have mixed feelings about the nailgun. It's tremendously powerful, yes. Kind of obscenely powerful considering that it's an unmodified improvised weapon that needs no external power source of any kind to propel a storm of nails at deadly speeds. Silently, no less! You'd think if old-world weapons had these kind of infinite batteries in them, the militaries would never fool around with weapons that eat bulky complex cartridges or power cells.
But the DLC doesn't really give me a chance to apply it. The marked men are far better off taken down with sniper rifles given how often they have sniper rifles of their own, or incinerators, or high end melee weapons. And the deathclaws and tunnelers had such a stupid amount of hitpoints that the only thing that really put any dent in them was my machine gun (tunnelers) or shotgun (deathclaws). Where the nail gun is most effective is, as with most SMGs, at short range on lightly armored enemies. If you take this weapon into some place like NCRCF or the Fiend vault it is scary-effective.
So. Implausibly good weapon for what it's supposed to be, and mostly the wrong choice for the tactical situations encountered in LR.
