Jack is chairman, chief executive officer and president of American Family Insurance. A native of DeForest, Wisconsin, Jack began his career with American Family in 1983 as a claim adjuster. In 1985, he became an agent in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, before moving to a district sales manager position in 1988. He became state sales director for eastern Wisconsin in 1995. In 2000, Jack was named vice president of the Personal Lines Division, and in 2003 he was elected Life/Health vice president. In 2004, he was elected executive vice president, overseeing the company’s five regional sales operations, Marketing and Broker/Dealer divisions. Jack became chief operating officer in August 2006, and president and chief operating officer in January 2007. He became chairman and chief executive officer in November 2011. Jack serves on the board of directors of American Family Mutual Insurance Company, the Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI), the Insurance Information Institute, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and United Way of Dane County. Jack earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and business administration from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He now serves as a member of the Wartburg College Board of Regents.
