Branch Code vs Universal Branch Code
Let’s break down the difference between a branch code and a universal branch code.
Branch Code – The branch code of a bank identifies the area where that bank branch is located, so every bank branch will have one.
Universal Branch Code – This code is a single code for all the branches of a bank, this means that you can use this single code for any transaction that you make, regardless of which branch of the bank you opened your account at.
I have noticed that with FNB internet banking, the system literally chooses the code for you, as soon as you select the bank, I am not sure if other banks do the same.
